End of Year Discouragement

I had one of those days again last week . . . the kind that made me second guess myself as the chief educator in our home. It was one of those days when I felt the wave of discouragement wash over me and leave me battle worn.

It all started with a simple writing and math lesson for two of my precious children. With good attitudes they worked hard at their studies, but as they submitted their lessons to me for review, my heart sank.

Take a Stand. It's Not Too Late.

If you receive the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA)  Weekly Update, you already know that they are hoping the Romeike petition will have the most signature ever on the White House “We the People” petition page.  At the time of this writing, there were 115, 708 signatures with today being the last day to sign the petition. This is the top-ranked live petition.

Sadly I think once the petition had reached the 100,000-signature threshold to receive a response from the White House, many of us thought, “Job done.” We quit pushing for more signatures. Really, 100,000 is a drop in the bucket to the millions who homeschool in the United States.

HSLDA has made it clear this is about more than Germany’s homeschooling laws; this is about our own freedom to homeschool. If this administration is unfriendly to any family who homeschools, foreign or domestic, our right to raise our children as God leads is in jeopardy.
